While young people are considered less physically at risk from coronavirus, they are some of the most vulnerable to its financial aftershocks.

Unlike older generations, many lack the safety net of savings or their own home to fall back on.

But they do not have to be helpless victims of the crisis. Here's why young people face big problems – and how they can help themselves.

What problems are they facing?

The most pressing issue for young people is the black hole of employment opportunities they now face. Tens of thousands of graduate jobs and internships have already been cut, with more expected to follow. The number of jobs advertised for university leavers has fallen to a quarter of the level at the start of the year, according to jobs site Adzuna.
