I used to think that to become a psychology professor you get a graduate degree and apply for a job. And if you're a good teacher then you'll get the job. That's not the case and it's really oversimplified. There's really discrete things that you need to establish before you can successfully apply to a place that you would actually want to teach. If you're somebody who is driven you don't want just any position. You want to be able to teach at a place you would really enjoy. So the goal of today's video is to take you through 5 different steps that you need to take in terms of 5 things you've got to establish to be able to get the job done and lock down that academic position. SINGH Jay Phoenix Singh, PhD, PhD is a Fulbright Scholar, faculty at both UPenn as well as Cambridge, and the internationally award-winning Founder of the Global Institute of Forensic Research (successful 2017 exit as CEO). Author of over 75 peer-reviewed articles and books, he completed his graduate doctoral studies in psychiatry at the University of Oxford and clinical psychology at Universitat Konstanz. He was named the youngest tenured Full Professor in Norway in 2014 and, since this time, has become the only psychology professor to have lectured for all eight Ivy League universities (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, UPenn) as well as both Oxford and Cambridge.
