Three Tips For Growing Your Business

This is probably going to be one of the shortest articles I have  ever written because my three tips for growing your business are:

  1. Collaborate
  2. Be Creative
  3. Stay Focused

I know that sometimes it feels great to be a lone wolf, a solopreneur, and you have probably all heard saying that it’s lonely at the top.

But I think the African proverb “If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together” has probably never been truer.

It might surprise you to hear, but I am actually quite shy, and this can sometimes cause me to work alone, but this can seriously limit what can be achieved.

Interestingly, I am actually someone who loves to collaborate and am always prepared to help others, sometimes too much, but I am not great at asking people to collaborate with me.

Just recently I decided to change that, to that and start reaching out to people looking to collaborate and to mutually help each other, and the early results have been amazing.

Just recently I have had two calls, where we have shared ideas, information and have looked to help one another.

The first call actually led to an interview which helped me increase the number of people who signed up for a course I had created from 100 to well over a thousand in just 24hrs.  Now we gave the course away for free to drive interest, but my own efforts had only resulted in just over 100 even though the course has great value,

The second call was with another speaker, where I shared the approach on how I landed a TedX talk in just 42 hours. In return he’s introducing me to 9 people he has spoken for on many occasions and who really trust his judgement.

Sales is not an easy thing, and I like many others don’t find it the best part of my day, but with just two collaborative calls I have seen a significant spike in opportunities just through collaboration.

I’m also going to be creating a webinar on how to land a Ted talk in 48 hrs which we’re going to co-market to a networking group who are interested in speaking at TedX,

Collaboration creates opportunities without the need for selling.

Sometimes we see people in our niche as competitors but that is a scarcity mentality. We all have slightly different approaches, and if you set up a win-win-win collaborative approach it can really help you to generate new leads, new opportunities and grow your business.

Take Aways

  • How do you know that would be great to collaborate with
  • What do you have that you can offer that will benefit both you, them and their clients
  • Reach out today, collaboration is much easier and much more fun than selling
